Have you ever wondered what might have happened if you had taken a different path?  Today I watched a lady with her two kids and thought about my family and their backgrounds.  It could have easily been me that was in her place and she in mine.  This has been on my mind quite a lot lately.  I'm not sure if it is because I am reaching middle age, or the fact that my own children are nearly grown, but for whatever reason it seems that Star Trek and the alternate universes don't sound all that strange anymore.
