From old to new the look may be the same.  This style has inspired many over years and years.  The Native Americans first used it in the Southwest as Pueblos, the first apartment complex or condo.  It made it easier to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  Star Wars used it as the home of Shmi and Anakin Skywalker. Funny how the old was the perfect template.
