Opposite Ends

The snow had dusted the desert and tried to hide all the prickles and pains that lay underneath.  Walking along the old road it was plain to see that it had hid nothing, only camouflaged it.  The spikes on the cactus was still just as dangerous only now they were harder to see.  The gnarled  and exposed roots of the old jasper tree were decorated but not any less protected from the elements than they were in the middle of summer.  Still their was some measure of respect for there ability to survive this environment.

Northern Arizona in the winter, about three years ago.  Tell my how you would describe this picture.

I'd call it a visual oxymoron. Snow on cacti? Love your writing style, it's very visual and illustrative.

That's surreal!

Light dustings of snow always make me think of powdered sugar. And cactus fruit is pretty tasty. So this photo, oddly enough, makes me hungry!
